A British man is set to become the first in the world to father a child after
having a testicular transplant. The man suffered from Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Chemotherapy for the disease leaves over nine out of ten men infertile, so
doctors at the Christie Hospital in Manchester removed sperm-producing germ
cells from the man’s testes, froze them in liquid nitrogen, and reimplanted the
tissue two years later after chemotherapy had dealt with the disease. His wife
has since become pregnant. However, doctors caution that the man could have
