Right on cue, here’s Nick Rosen’s Net-Head Handbook (Hodder, £9.99,
ISBN 0 340 67207 2) which claims to be the first guide to computer chic, but
isn’t the first (or last) attempt to cash in on the Internet and its wannabe
surfers. The cartoon how-(not)-to-do-it advice centres on Mr Newbie, a character
cringingly recognisable to any recently converted Net-head. Would make a good
present, but don’t wait till Christmas. By then, as is the way with printed
paper, much of it will be as dead as a misconfigured modem.
