A voice-operated hand-held personal digital assistant has been developed by
Dragon Systems of Massachusetts. For the first time it combines voice
recognition with digital recording, so you can send e-mails, book appointments
or sound alerts wherever you are. When you get back to your computer, you simply
plug the device in and the PC will carry out the commands that you spoke into
the PDA earlier. For example, if you say “Send an e-mail to Steven Smith
regarding our meeting. Steve, I’ll see you there at 5 o’clock.” the computer
will retrieve his e-mail address, transcribe the message and send it.
