Seiko will this week launch a 拢1500 wristwatch powered by body heat.
Using a thermo electric generating system, the Seiko Thermic wristwatch鈥攐n
sale in Japan from 15 December鈥攅xploits the temperature difference between
the surroundings and the wearer’s arm. According to its designers, it starts to
generate electricity as soon as it is put on the wrist and continues to operate
and keep perfect time in “sleep mode” when taken off. The generator uses the
principle of the Seebeck effect, in which a temperature difference between a
pair of junctions of dissimilar conductors generates a current.
