The ozone hole above Antarctica is this week bigger than ever, covering an

Jonathan Shanklin of the British Antarctic Survey says El Ni帽o
strengthened the vortex of cold air that forms over Antarctica every winter. At

ideal conditions for the formation of polar stratospheric clouds, within which
chlorine and bromine compounds from human sources destroy ozone.
