SOME 2500 people marched through central London last Saturday to protest
against experiments on live animals. The rally, organised by the National
Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS), was one of several around the world to
mark World Day for Laboratory Animals. In London, the protesters marched
from the statue of ‘The little brown dog’ (a memorial commissioned by the
NAVS) in Battersea Park to Westminster Central Hall. One of the speakers,
David Icke of the Green Party, told protestors that ‘moral grounds’ are
enough to justify ending such experiments.
