DO keep in mind that Twitter, Facebook and all those other cool apps are not free. You are paying with your private information. Stop it!
DO use a Virtual Private Network, which creates a safe, encrypted connection. DON鈥橳 use a free virtual private network (VPN): real privacy does come at a cost.

DO create a fake digital identity if you cannot resist indulging in social media. It will protect your information.
DO use pay-as-you-go credit cards and DON鈥橳 use your regular credit or bank cards. Even better, use cash as it is a lot more discreet.
DON鈥橳 buy your 鈥渢ools of discretion鈥 鈥 the things you鈥檒l need to disappear 鈥 yourself, because your face will be captured by the camera above the cash register. DO have a trusted person do it for you.
DON鈥橳 use a home, work or mobile-laptop internet connection to research your plan to disappear. DO buy a separate device, with cash, and use the Wi-Fi of a public space.
DON鈥橳 use an internet cafe, where all actions may be tracked and traced.
DON鈥橳 buy a fake identity: you and 10 others could be walking around with the same name and documents.
DO use disinformation to keep people off of your trail. This could involve making fake calls and sending fake emails to people you do not know, ordering items online and having them delivered to a hotel you never intend to visit, or book a hotel room online in a different city and don鈥檛 turn up.
DO have a 鈥済o bag鈥 ready with passport, prepaid debit cards, prepaid phone SIMs and a map of where you plan to go. You never know when you may need to disappear.
