Tim Friend鈥檚 Animal Talk (Free Press) is a nice review of vocal communication in animals, he says, and Richard Adams鈥檚 鈥渨onderful story of rabbits鈥�, Watership Down (Penguin), is a 鈥渕ust read鈥� for anyone interested in animals and nature. Bekoff鈥檚 Encyclopedia of Animal Behavior is published this month (Greenwood). And on the human front? 鈥淎nything by Antonio Damasio is excellent: he really makes you think out of the box.鈥� Bekoff is reading Damasio鈥檚 latest, Looking for Spinoza (Harcourt, 2003).
