Life is full of intractable problems, such as how to get to Mars, or how to hold a hot drink and a biscuit in one hand while doing something useful with the other. Dominic Skinner of Surrey reckons he can solve the latter (GB 2364889). His patented biscuit mug is a double-decker, with a conventional drinks container on top and a shelf below. The shelf is tall enough to take a stack of up to three biscuits—any more would be greedy, after all. The mug has to come in left and right-handed versions, because the closed wall of the shelf must always face the user. Otherwise, of course, the biscuits will end up on the floor every time you tilt the mug to take a sip.
