Dithering motorists will be able to broadcast their uncertainty to the world
with the 鈥渉oldback indicators鈥� being patented by Gerald Cotter of Lancaster (GB
2356747). Four extra indicator lights are fitted to the front and rear corners
of a car, these extra lights are controlled by a switch that is completely
separate from the conventional indicators. When drivers want to turn left, but
are not quite sure where their turning is, they flash the left 鈥渉oldbacks鈥�
鈥攐r the right ones if they want to turn right. And they flash both lights
if they鈥檙e not sure whether their turning is to the left or to the right.
