Footballers with torn ligaments, and old people with painful joints will
welcome a treatment being patented by Britannia Pharmaceuticals. The company
says that pantothenic acid, or vitamin B5, which is normally taken as a
dietary supplement, also works wonders if you inject it into creaking joints (GB
2355930). The vitamin is extracted from honeybees’ royal jelly, dissolved in
water and injected with a phospholipid lubricant and lignocaine to prevent the
injection causing pain. The company says the treatment provides relief from
tennis elbow and hip ache for up to a week.
