The British Patent Office has warned that a gang of fraudsters based in China is preying on inventors. Based in Guangdong province, the fraudsters claim to represent a non-existent government joint venture. They ask for money in return for a technology transfer service, which the Patent Office says is highly likely to be bogus. As a result of these attempts at fraud, the Patent Office is granting inventors’ requests to omit their addresses from published patents and registers.
