Trying to stroll down a beach while wearing flippers makes you look as if
you’re trying to get funding from the Ministry of Silly Walks. So Hollywood
Hopeful Productions of New York has come up with a solution: a moulded rubber
shoe that has a flipper fin moulded onto the front (WO 99/34880). The fin can be
folded back on itself to lie over the top of the shoe’s instep, and a snap clip
holds the flipper down until the wearer gets into deep water and wrenches it
free—allowing the flipper to spring forward to assist swimming. The shoe
also protects tender feet from shingle and shells.
