If you recover from your hangover in time, you’ll discover that Mothering
Sunday is this weekend in Britain. The Internet can help you catch up with the
history of this, too. The day has been celebrated since the 1600s but was
revived in 1907 thanks to the efforts of Ana Jarvis, a Philadelphian who
campaigned for a day to be set aside for mothers. The whole story and more can
be found at http://www.holidays.net/mother/story.htm.
