The campaign to eradicate landmines has received a boost from the European
Commission, which last week earmarked 拢10 million for the development of
safer technologies for removing land mines.
Alois Sieber, technical coordinator of the project at the commission鈥檚 joint
research centre in Ispra near Milan, says the programme will focus on developing
better hand-held detectors.
