Q: Why are there always about twice as many new questions as there are answered ones in The Last Word page each week?
Oh dear, we鈥檝e been caught. We should have known that an eagle-eyed barrister would one day demand that we explain precisely what has happened to the missing questions. The truth is that some questions have never been answered satisfactorily. Normally, of course, we would just blame you, our readers, for this sorry state of affairs. But as it鈥檚 Christmas, we have decided to let you take a rest and provide some of the answers ourselves. We haven鈥檛 done absolutely everything for you, however. We鈥檝e thrown one question back as it demands a Christmas liqueur drinking experiment. And to set you an example we鈥檝e published the results from one group of researchers who took The Last Word into the laboratory.
