Smaller yes, and perhaps less elegant, this pyramid near Neumunster
in northern Germany still has one great advantage over the Pharaohs鈥� tombs.
You can put people in it while they are still alive.
The 拢160 000 home is being billed as the world鈥檚 first eco pyramid.
Three of the walls are covered in glass panels which collect solar energy,
providing heating and hot water for 10 months of the year. The fourth wall
is covered with grass and foliage.
Karl Ortlepp, the architect who built the eco pyramid, says the house
cost 20 per cent more than a conventional building. But he thinks that when
the design catches on, he will be sitting on an 鈥榚cological gold mine鈥�.
