For people who want their sunglasses to take up the minimum amount of space,
Jetlag International of Derbyshire is patenting a pair of glasses that rolls
up into a small cylinder, like a film can.
The glasses, described in BP 2 252 637, are made from a single strip of
clear, springy plastic laminated with a smoked strip. When the strip is
heated it coils up naturally and its springiness means that it clamps easily
round the wearer鈥檚 ears. If you prefer, sunglasses can be attached to
prescription spectacles by notches at the end of each strip or by
double-sided adhesive tape. Another idea is to colour the coil, add a
message such as 鈥楬appy Birthday鈥, and give them to children for parties.
