Robin Dunbar pointed out that a great deal of sociological and anthropological
evidence suggests that 鈥榥atural鈥 groupings of about 150 individuals occur
in human societies. A couple of days later, when this information was still
fresh in my mind, I completed the task of entering the contents of my old
address book into my new electronic personal organiser. I鈥檓 not sure if
this is the kind of grouping Robin had in mind, but nevertheless I was amused
to be informed by the machine that there were a total of 144 entries.
