Patents: Posture alarm

Yung-Tsun Liu of Taiwan worries about people getting a 鈥榗amelback鈥 through
bad posture. He has invented a device which warns of slumped shoulders (UK
2 228 869).

The device looks like a shoulder harness for a gun. Elastic straps round
the shoulders hold a box of electronics on to the wearer鈥檚 back.

The back box has a spring-loaded switch which is held open when the
wearer has a straight back. At the first sign of slouching the belts pull
on the switch to close it and sound an alarm buzzer. The alarm then goes
on sounding until the wearer straightens up.
