The European Community may triple its support for scientific collaboration
with Eastern Europe next year to 86 million Ecus (拢60 million), the
Community鈥檚 research commissioner Filippo Pandolfi announced in Budapest
this month.
Speaking to members of Eureka, the European technology R&D programme,
Pandolfi stressed the importance of technological cooperation in paving
the way for the eventual economic and political unification of Europe. 鈥楻&D
activities are the preliminary step for the modernisation of this part of
Europe and for allowing these countries to become members of the European
community,鈥 he said.
